European Journal of Cultural Management and Policy

ENCATC, the European network on cultural management and policy, is accepting articles for two issues of its scientific publication, the European Journal of Cultural Management and Policy, (ISSN 2663-5771) Volume 9 to be published in December 2019. The submission article deadline is 1 April 2019.

Key facts and information:

  • Volume 9, issue 1 is a thematic issue following the topic of 2018 ENCATC Annual Congress: “Beyond EYCH2018. What is the cultural horizon? Opening up perspectives to face ongoing transformations”. Submissions are encouraged to address the critical and inclusive views of cultural heritage and its relationship with other cultural and creative sectors.
  • Volume 9, issue 2, is a general issue on new advancements in the cultural and creative domains.
  • In publication since 2011, Journal encourages multidisciplinary perspectives and aims at connecting theory and practice in the realm of the cultural sector.

Applications for the ENCATC Research Award on Cultural Policy and Cultural Management are being accepted until 1 May 2019.

2019 ENCATC Education and Research Session

On 4 October 2019 in Dijon, France, academics, researchers and practitioners from Europe and beyond will present their latest work during the annual Education and Research Session organised during the 2019 ENCATC Congress on Cultural Management and Policy “Diversity and sustainability at work. Policies and practices from culture and education” (2-5 October).
This gathering of the international education and research community will provide a unique interdisciplinary environment to get the latest world-class education practices and research being conducted on cultural management and policy.

            Key facts and information:

  • The open call welcomes submissions for abstracts, posters and teaching demonstrations until 25 May 2019. Proposals may be from any relevant discipline will be considered, provided that they make an original academic and professional contribution to the study and practice of cultural management and cultural policy.
  • Themes related to the main topic of the 2019 Congress are encouraged to critically address diversity and sustainability in an operating context, exploring the practical meanings of diversity in the cultural and creative sector, investigate how its different connotations are implemented in practice, and how they are contributing to the sustainability discourse in the field

  • Deadline for abstract, poster and teachings demonstration proposals: Saturday, May 25th 2019
  • Authors are communicated the selection: Monday, June 27th 2019
  • Deadline for participation confirmation: Tuesday, July 2nd 2019

  • Submit an abstract with the aim to present your paper contributing to cultural management and cultural policy research
  • Submit a proposal for the Poster Exhibition with the aim to present a research, practical or pedagogical project within cultural management and policy and with a connection to the main theme of the Congress
  • Submit a proposal for a Teaching Demonstration with the aim to provide innovative teaching methods and pedagogical tools to be applied within cultural management and policy

“Addressing inequalities: building a world which leaves no one behind”

European Development Days is the biggest meeting in Europe of the development community. The overarching theme of this year’s meeting, in Brussels on 18-19 June, is “Addressing inequalities: building a world which leaves no one behind”.

The European Commission is inviting young people from around the world to play an active role in this year’s EDD. EC is looking for 15 extraordinary young people aged 21-26 who can represent the powerful impact that youth are having in the development field. The Young Leaders Programme will consist of a 10-day visit to Brussels, where Young Leaders will meet EU experts and stakeholders and play a leading role in the EDD Programme, which will include speaking in various session alongside global leaders.

Western Balkans Alumni Association (WBAA)
1st General Assembly in Tirana, Albania, 15-16 March 2019

Dear Alumni,

With the support of the European Commission, the Western Balkans Alumni Association (WBAA) will be organising its 1st General Assembly in Tirana, Albania, on 15-16 March 2019. The event will gather over 130 students and alumni from WBAA. Moreover, higher education stakeholders, ministry representatives, EU officials and business representatives will be present.

Western Balkans Alumni Association is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation targeting students and alumni of the Western Balkans, namely Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.

The aim of WBAA is to establish a strong union of alumni coming from the Western Balkans in order to provide a forum which enables the exchange experiences and best practices as well as empowers young people.

The WBAA General Assembly will be the yearly gathering of its members, from across the region. Over the span of two days, you will receive an update about the current state and progress of the Association, as well as engaging in various sessions and cultural activities which should help you make new connections and support WBAA in shaping its future development and related activities.

We also want to involve and empower our volunteering members to be, also after the General Assembly, an active part of the Association. One of the ways to get involved are our new WBAA teams, that will focus on different topics: Communication & IT, Projects, Research, Academic and Career Development or Internal Affairs. These teams will work virtually on concrete topics and projects and in addition, there will be opportunities for meetings with external partners and the own team.

Therefore, when filling out the application form, we kindly ask you to select also a team that fits to your interests and qualifications and to which you would like to contribute.

Why WBAA?

WBAA gives you the opportunity to become part of strong alumni union in order to advocate for modernization and improvement of the higher education’s quality in the Western Balkans Region. As a member you can take part in the numerous programmes/projects, workshops, panel discussions and other activities focused on raising awareness of the Western Balkans students’ needs.

About WBAA

The Western Balkans Alumni Association (WBAA) is a regional association of alumni who have spent part of their studies abroad, funded by EU education and training programmes such as Erasmus+ and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions.
Officially launched in March 2018, WBAA was born from the EU’s Western Balkans Platform on Education and Training in 2014, where the Ministers of Education of the Western Balkan countries agreed on the need to establish a regional network of alumni.

Already at the beginning, WBAA would like to give an opportunity to the proactive alumni to get involved in its activities, in particular at the following positions:

Volunteering at the Communication Department will provide an opportunity to improve the quality of WBAA activities, develop communication skills, and enlarge your professional and personal network. The mandate will include a period of six months (from May 2018 to October 2018).

 

Your application will be accepted provided that you fulfill with the following eligibility criteria:

  • You are from the Western Balkans and have you spent part of your university studies abroad supported by EU education and training programmes (e.g. Erasmus+, Erasmus Mundus Joint Degrees, Erasmus Mundus – Action 2 Programmes and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions);
  • You are registered as a member of the Western Balkans Alumni Association (https://www.western-balkans-alumni.eu/membership/);

 

Desired qualifications:

  • Very good oral and written English language skills;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Knowledge of WBAA structure and activities;
  • Active participation at WBAA activities (e.g. at the WBAA kick off meeting, or at the activities organized by the National Chapters, etc.);
  • Motivation to further develop the WBAA.

 

Expected tasks:

  • Promotion of the WBAA via web page;
  • Promotion of the WBAA via social media profiles (Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter);
  • Promotion of the WBAA and higher education developments in the Western Balkans and Europe via monthly newsletter.
