Our Candidates for the open board position for Kosovo* chapter – election now!

Dear WBAA community,
dear Kosovo* member,
we continue our election process for the open position within the WBAA board for the Kosovo* chapter.
We have two candidates for this position: Albana Veseli and Anesa Colakovic.
Please find a short introduction below. Take a look at both candidates thoroughly.
The election itself starts on Monday, 27th, 1pm and will end on Thursday, 30th July, 1 pm.

NOTE: You can’t vote for the National Representative unless you are registered here: as a member of Western Balkans Alumni Association and have filled out your personal profile incuding a photo.

*This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSCR 1244 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo Declaration of Independence. Albana Veseli
Teaching assistant of Analytical Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry in University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” in Kosovo since 2007.Accomplished many research visits at the Institute of Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry at the Karl – Franzens University of Graz, Austria as a Master and PhD student. The scientific interest covers the designing of new electrochemical sensors and biosensors based on heterogeneous carbon electrodes and their applications in food and environmental analysis.
Academic coordinator for Erasmus + project between University of Prishtina, Kosovo and Keele University, UK (2018.2020).  Part of some National and International projects (Erasmus + project ‘’Join Master programs between Universities’’, Cost action projects etc.)Accomplished first own projects in 2019 with a title ‘’ Antibiotic Residues in Water near Municipalities of Kosovo: Raising Public Health Issues Awareness through University Teaching’’. Voluntary work – active member of regional organization Western Balkan Alumni Association (WBAA) since 2017. Very good Communicative and organizational abilities and capable skills on teamwork and individually.

Anesa Colakovic
Meet Anesa Colakovic born in Kosovo; she is a Fulbright alumna and a World Learning Fellow in the United States of America, a Schusterman scholar in entrepreneurship, a Rotarian in India, a German Marshall Fund alumna in Poland, Global Laureate in Mathematics and Economics in Germany, Peace Fellow in Thailand, and a Geoffrey Nice Scholar in Croatia. In 2019, she was a Forbes 30 Under 30 semi-finalist and a disruptive innovator semi-finalist at Stanford University in California, USA.

The concept of development runs through her veins. She has experience in setting up both organizations and businesses with a strong social focus. For 15 years, Anesa lead numerous projects/events/campaigns for social inclusion and community development in Kosovo, United States, and India. She enjoys working on business development ideas and start-ups, which promote economic development and employment of marginalized communities, minority groups, youth, women, and people with disabilities. Previously, she worked in prestigious international organizations like: USAID, Danish Refugee Council, Human Rights Watch, International Monetary Fund, and European Commission. She also has work experience government institutions, initially at the Central Bank of Kosovo, then to the Office of the Prime Minister, and now to the Office of the President.
Throughout Anesa’s professional and academic experience, she received numerous prestigious awards like: PEACE Award in Switzerland, Soros Travel Grant to Taiwan, European Fund for Balkans, and many more.

In her free time, Anesa is interested in exploring cultures, heritage, gastronomy, and languages. She speaks: English, Russian, Turkish, Spanish, Albanian, Bosnian, Portuguese, and Italian. She has basic knowledge in French and German and she started Arabic recently. Her favorite food is Indian, her favorite language is Albanian, and her favorite dance is Latin American. Overall, Anesa has traveled to many countries in the world: Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Croatia, Greece, Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Netherlands, Thailand, Turkey, Taiwan, USA, UK, India, United Arab Emirates, Libya, Israel, Qatar, and Egypt.
Anesa has a bachelor in Economics and Public Policy and a minor in Law from Rochester Institute of Technology, USA and a Master in International Development from Ohio University, USA.
