Social Entrepreneurship through the prism of Erasmus+
The project named Social Entrepreneurship through the prism of Erasmus+, took part in Stip, North Macedonia from 6th to 8th October 2019. With 33 participants from all over the country taking part in the amazing event which was organized by the Western Balkans Alumni Association in partnership with the international communications office of the University Goce Delcev – Stip, the project was an overall success and even exceeded the expectations of participants and organizers.
The first day was dedicated to meeting and getting to know all the participants involved. With the help of some icebreakers, the participants got to know each other quickly. The first day was also used to explain the general agenda of the project, present the time-table and learn more about WBAA’s mission as an association.
The second day of the project was the longest and most intense day as it was dedicated to learn about the topic of Social Entrepreneurship. Under the expert guidance of Prof. Tamara Jovanov Apasieva, the participants got the opportunity to listen, learn, discuss and develop ideas connected to the topic. Participants could see some great examples of successful social enterprises such as Tom’s Shoes and Warby Parker. The examples of good practice helped to show how economic logic can be linked up with social logic in order to help thousands of people while selling and designing useful and quality products.
Finally, the last day of the project focused on idea development, possible implementations, the business plan (with the help of the CANVAS model) and the 5-minute pitch. The participants presented their ideas to an audience of students and University staff. After voting for the best idea of social entrepreneurship that was presented during the session, the winners received some prizes from the organizers, together with the official certificates of attendance that were awarded to all the participants.
This project was a wonderful opportunity for young people in North Macedonia to engage in a non-formal learning setting and to be challenged to come up with practical solutions to old, but easily solvable problems. Thanks to this event, the Erasmus and WBAA family got even bigger, with additional 33 young ambitious people – future social entrepreneurs.
