Erasmus+ Experience: Unlocking Opportunities for Youth in Montenegro

A vibrant WBAA local event took place on 23 June 2025 in Podgorica, Montenegro, bringing together students, alumni, and youth workers to explore and promote the wide-ranging opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ programme. Designed to empower and inform, the event focused on sharing mobility experiences, scholarship pathways, and entrepreneurial initiatives supported by the European Union.
Held in a welcoming venue in Podgorica, the day featured a rich agenda of personal Erasmus+ stories, practical guidance, and interactive discussions. Participants learned about academic mobility through Erasmus+ and Erasmus Mundus, withreal examples of studying across multiple countries in Europe. Sessions offered first-hand insights into the long-term academic and professional benefits of international experiences.
A highlight of the event was a practical workshop on the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme, which provided actionable guidance for young people interested in starting their own ventures. In addition, a representative from a local youth NGO shared valuable insights into Erasmus+ Youth Exchanges and volunteering, reinforcing the importance of active community involvement and grassroots initiatives.
The event successfully built awareness, inspired action, and strengthened the Erasmus+ alumni community in Montenegro. It demonstrated the continued relevance of Erasmus+ in promoting inclusion, active participation, and personal development for youth across the Western Balkans.
The event in Podgorica stands as a great example of how alumni networks can support the next generation in accessing and benefitting from international opportunities.
