What is your motivation to apply for this position to become a Regional Representative?

I am eager to contribute more to the WBAA as a Board Member due to my extensive experience in cross-cultural collaboration, project management, and social work. I am passionate about fostering sustainable development and enhancing alumni networks in the Western Balkans. My leadership roles, such as Chairperson of the Board in my residential community, demonstrate my ability to manage teams, finances, and projects effectively.

Adaleta Omerbasic

Please describe your engagement in WBAA (GAs and activities you have participated in, teams you have joined, projects you have implemented in the past, etc.)

  • Participated in the General Assemblies in Sarajevo (2025) and Podgorica (2024), as well as the Governance Training in Tivat.
  • Additionally, I was a speaker at the Erasmus Info Day project implemented by Mario Vrhovac, where I presented the Erasmus Mundus programme.
  • Beyond events, I closely follow the association’s governance developments and have been advocating for improved transparency, member activation, and alignment with the WBAA statute and values. I am committed to contributing constructively to a more functional, member-oriented WBAA.

What is your motivation to apply for this position to become a Regional Representative?

  1. The persistent lack of communication, visibility and responsiveness from previous board members.
  2. National chapters have been left without clear guidance, support, or representation.
  3. Members deserve transparency, regular updates, and active involvement in shaping WBAA.
  4. Structure and consistent information flow are missing.
  5. Regional voices should be truly heard, not just symbolically included.

It's time for committed representation that delivers, not one that disappears after being elected.

What is your plan of action for the period should be selected?

  1. Transparency – I will publish clear updates after board meetings and ensure members are informed of key decisions, opportunities, and ongoing processes.
  2. Member Engagement – We will create a “What You Need to Know as a Member” info booklet with practical tools (group links, contact points, where to find regulations, how to propose a project).
  3. Feedback & Communication – There will be a feedback form to gather questions, suggestions, and concerns directly from members, addressing them regularly.
  4. National Chapter Activation – I will propose chapter meetings (online or in-person) to support project ideas and encourage local activity.
  5. ESAA Liaison Challenge – I will critically review WBAA’s status in ESAA, push for more accountability, and propose myself as a representative to ensure WBAA’s voice is actively heard.
  6. Clarify and Strengthen the Role of the Service Provider- Understand and define the roles and responsibilities of the service provider and of WBAA members.

Establish clear communication lines: who to contact for what and expected response times.

Ensure members know what support they can expect (and what not) when applying or running a project.

Improve project guidance, from application to reporting, through simplified materials and direct support channels.

Mario Vrhovac

Please describe your engagement in WBAA (GAs and activities you have participated in, teams you have joined, projects you have implemented in the past, etc.)

I have partially organised and fully moderated the last two GAs in Podgorica and Sarajevo. My co-moderator was Milan Babić from Serbia chapter. Since we are in the process of making new teams, I would like to join the projects team. I have organised a project on the first call this year in Sarajevo on the same weekend as the GA in middle of April - Erasmus experience share - first-hand experience where I invited past and future Erasmus students to have information first hand.

What is your motivation to apply for this position to become a Regional Representative?

As a former board member of WBAA Bosnia and Herzegovina, I have seen firsthand the value of building a strong, inclusive alumni network that empowers young people across the region. My motivation to apply for the Regional Representative position stems from a deep commitment to fostering regional cooperation, enhancing the visibility of mobility opportunities, and supporting students during and after their Erasmus+ experiences.

Throughout my previous term, I initiated and led impactful activities such as the "Erasmus Mundus First-Hand Experience" event in Sarajevo, where we brought together alumni, students, and future applicants to share experiences and practical tools. Beyond that, I am a person of action and therefore I have moderated the last 2 GAs together with my colleagues.

I am motivated to contribute further by advocating for more inclusive access to mobility programmes, supporting project development across chapters, and ensuring that the voices of alumni from smaller communities are heard and valued such as Busovača and Travnik area. I see WBAA not only as a network but as a platform for transformation — and I want to continue being part of that change. Transformation to an independent individual in the academic sphere.

What is your plan of action for the period should be selected?

If selected as Regional Representative, my main focus will be on deepening engagement with the local community in the Travnik area and increasing outreach to high schools. Many students in smaller towns lack access to reliable information about Erasmus+ opportunities, and I aim to close that gap.

I plan to organise visits to high schools across Central Bosnia to deliver interactive sessions about Erasmus+, share alumni experiences, and provide students with practical guidance on how to apply.

Building on the success of the Erasmus Mundus handbook initiative, I will develop localised materials to make the information even more accessible.

In parallel, I will initiate collaboration with local institutions, youth offices, and NGOs to integrate WBAA into existing community structures. My goal is to create a stronger connection between WBAA and students at the local level — especially in underrepresented areas.

What skills and qualities can you bring to this position?

I am a man of action — practical and committed to making things happen on the ground. As a former President of ESN Sarajevo, I led a team that developed small-scale projects from scratch, often with limited resources. That experience taught me how to turn ideas into action, collaborate across cultures, and build meaningful outcomes even under constraints.

My background as a professor of Latin and philosophy has given me strong communication and mentoring skills, while my entrepreneurial work has strengthened my ability to plan, adapt, and stay grounded in local communities.

Having already served as a WBAA board member, I understand how the network functions and what it takes to engage members effectively. I’ve organised events, created student-facing materials, and worked directly with young people to make Erasmus+ opportunities more visible and accessible — especially in underrepresented communities.

Blerina Vrenozi

Please describe your engagement in WBAA (GAs and activities you have participated in, teams you have joined, projects you have implemented in the past, etc.)

I have been actively involved in WBAA, where I prepared a talk for a webinar about the Western Balkans education during COVID-19. As a result, the data are presented online in a conference in Turkey and already published in a paper. This took me a lot of time, with a questionnaire with more than 1 500 participants, students and staff from Albania, Macedonia, Kosovo*, Montenegro and Serbia.

Also, I have followed one training course on media and photography. There are three assemblies that I have taken an active part in, in Tirana, Belgrade and Sarajevo, and a team meeting that I have attended in Durres.

I have said my word on what to do to improve WBAA more, and I hope with time I will see positive results in gathering together and facilitating the WBAA members network and teamwork.

What is your motivation to apply for this position to become a Regional Representative?

My ideas of a better cooperation, not only networking, discussing closely with the service provider about the obstacles, and networking with members of WBAA on possible research projects in higher education, considering that I’m a researcher in Tirana University. I hope to increase and involve more the members of WBAA Albania, notifying them about the ongoing activities via online or face to face meetings, contacting the Erasmus office at my University and exploring options for supporting students and engaging in joint activities.

Being a national representative of WBAA, I would be able to give my contribution via the fruitful discussions and hopefully with good results with all the interested parts.

What is your plan of action for the period should be selected?

I cannot promise the impossible, but for sure I will try my best to contribute to WBAA based on my experience in higher education and research, to get the Albanian members more involved in activities of WBAA, to notify them on what is going on and to be their voice in WBAA, to jointly organise events, to provide fruitful discussions with all the parties of WBAA either online or face to face, to create a bridge with

the Tirana University for supporting students etc.

What skills and qualities can you bring to this position?

I am a lecturer and researcher in Biology, which has significantly impacted my character. I am motivated and ambitious, driven by a strong will and commitment to hard work. My aim is to contribute high-quality research, presentations and papers in my field on an international level. I am empathetic, friendly, social and well organised. My motto is: "Nothing is impossible if you give your best". With determination and hard work, with consistent efforts and dedication, we can overcome obstacles and achieve our aspirations.
