Mobility Matters: Study, Work, Connect

On 19 September 2025, the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Technology, University of Mostar, together with WBAA, will host the local event “Mobility Matters” in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, showcasing Erasmus+ opportunities and inspiring students, academic staff and alumni to engage in international mobility and collaboration.

Programme overview

The day will be divided into a morning programme of presentations and an afternoon of networking and excursions. The morning session will begin with participant registration and a musical welcome, followed by a welcome speech from Assoc. Prof. Anita Lalić, representing both the Faculty and WBAA.

Presentations will include:

  • Ana Šuman – International cooperation at the university level
  • Dr Adrijana Filipović – Faculty-level Erasmus+ perspective
  • Dr Ivana Grbavac – Mobility in academic career development

After a short refreshment break, participants will hear:

  • Marija Milićević – Administrative support for Erasmus+ students
  • Vedrana Grbavac – Personal student Erasmus+ experience
  • A WBAA Board Member from Serbia – introducing the association’s mission and opportunities

The morning session will conclude with a musical goodbye, leaving participants energised for the afternoon programme.

Afternoon networking and excursion

The afternoon will feature an excursion to Čapljina, including lunch at a riverside restaurant along the Neretva River. Participants will also visit Bunski Kanali for a short walk and a 30-minute eco-activity. This setting will encourage informal networking, collaboration, and discussion among students, staff, and alumni.

Aims and objectives

The event is designed to:

  • Raise awareness of Erasmus+ opportunities among students and staff
  • Showcase diverse experiences and benefits of international mobility
  • Strengthen participation in Erasmus+ at institutional levels
  • Promote regional collaboration through engagement with WBAA

Expected outcomes

By the end of the day, the organisers expect:

  • Increased interest in Erasmus+ opportunities
  • Enhanced understanding of the programme’s impact and implementation
  • New connections between students, staff, and international networks
  • Encouragement of future participation and institutional support for mobility initiatives

Relevance to Erasmus+ principles

Mobility Matters directly supports the core objectives of Erasmus+:

  • Promotion of Learning Mobility: participants will learn from students, academic staff, and administrators who have participated in Erasmus+ exchanges
  • Institutional Cooperation: encourages collaboration among universities and alumni networks in the Western Balkans
  • Cultural Exchange: integrates academic discussions with informal networking and cultural experiences, reinforcing mutual understanding across borders
