Candidates for Vice Head for Advocacy of the WBAA Team Higher Education
The call for applications for the open leadership position of the WBAA Teams has ended on 7 November 2022 and we would like to introduce you to the two candidates running for Vice Head for Advocacy of the WBAA Team Higher Education Reform & Equal access to higher education:
Nevena Brdarić
Nevena is member of the Chapter Serbia and WBAA member since May 2022. She has already participated in several WBAA Projects.
- What is your motivation to apply for this position?
Throughout my educational career, I have held important positions (president of the student parliament; department representative at the faculty) where I could contribute as individual and as voice of the youth. We are aware that we need fundamental changes so that we can prepare young people for the adult world by giving them the right skills. It is well known that formal education is not enough to meet the needs of the market and therefore I have the motivation to contribute my knowledge and experience and, in this way, help young people to achieve their personal development goals.
- What plans or ideas do you have for the WBAA Team Higher Education?
According to the previous seminars, conferences, I would like to contribute to the following fields:
- Including national minorities into Higher Education;
- Promoting importance of Higher Education for state interest;
- Incorporation of the new learning techniques.
- What skills and qualities can you bring to this position?
According to my previous experience as someone who lead the group, I have good ability to mediate and understand diversity of interculturality. Also, I would point out ability to analyse independently problems, prioritising them while devising solutions. I have developed team management skills through the numerous projects in Rotary, Rotaract and Ecological Organisation.
Vjoela Allkanjari
Vjoela is a member of the Albania Chapter and a WBAA member since February 2021. She has already implemented two WBAA Projects.
- What is your motivation to apply for this position?
Considering the tasks required for this position, I think I am the right person to implement them. As I am a layer, I am very familiar with judicial reforms. I collaborate with the university of Tirana, and I am aware of the problems emerging in this sector. I also grew up in western countries, where I studied. This is also an opportunity to give my contribution considering my experience and knowledge. For three years now I am running my own law firm in Tirana and I am conscious about the problems the Western Balkan countries are facing.
- What plans or ideas do you have for the WBAA Team Higher Education?
My intention is to make the system of Higher Education more accessible for the students in alignment with EU standards, UN and the Council of Europe. To promote a closer collaboration with higher institutions of 6 WB countries, focusing to marginalised and underprivileged groups.
- What skills and qualities can you bring to this position?
I have a legal background and excellent communication and organisational skills.
